Capitulation. Giving up. Nihilistic beliefs. None of this is helpful. None of this is going to get you the life you want. None of this is even going to make your life better. The worst part is it’s just plain wrong.
Amazing. As a young guy, I love this perspective and needed to hear this. So easy to get wrapped up in the negativity or forget the central mission. But builders build. This too shall pass.
Currently waiting to hear back from suppliers to start a brand. In the meantime, should I use $ to hire writers for a separate affiliate site in same niche? I want to do both (yes, I know impatience won’t help, but trying to keep taking action), but you mentioned that funds would be better used for ecomm if you have the money.
I do have dry powder for ecomm I believe, but barely enough (approx 20k). Six figure income though (140k-ish depending on commission). Should I just wait to hear back from suppliers or start an affiliate in the meantime? USTT flow is good but not *that* good, hence some apprehension
You should not start an affiliate site. You should start to plan out/build your content for your ecom site. (once it's finalized that you're for sure going that route)
1. Do heavy KW research and ensure you're doing it right. If your KW research or how your content is structured is wrong, you're wasting a lot of money on the content. BowTiedTetra has some great articles on this. Don't pay for the content until you hear back from your supplier.
2. Stand up the site and get the copy right. Get the copy right. Get the copy right. Get the copy right. Also value prop. Which is part of the copy.
3. Start figuring out how you're going to get the links
4. Figure out how you're going to market
5. If it's social/email/etc., start building up assets and contacts
Lay the groundwork. You statistically will fail if you're trying to build two projects at the same time when you've never done it before.
Take note from Alexis and this thread. She laid the groundwork way before she launched. Also good to note her experience in digital businesses. (look her up)
Thanks a ton for the detailed reply! Alexis seems really knowledgeable, will definitely check her out more and start on getting contacts for diff channels
Good stuff. Needed this reminder. Just took a few days off with the family in the mountains and disconnected from the doom scrolling on Twitter. It's amazing how much of the world is actually good and awesome when you log off.
Would buying something like VTI be similar to buying SPY? Great article
Idk. This isn't a stock subject. I don't have enough knowledge to make recommendations.
Opossum, you win, I'll buy you 2 coffes per month.
Made my day with this post.
Great perspective. Champions adjust. Glad you're in the jungle
Thank you for this!
Love your work Opossum!
Thanks opossum
Appreciate the gut check. Excellent piece. (Coming for a young(er) guy who is definitely guilty of engaging in the catastrophic thinking.)
Greatest article of your substack thus far, imo. Thank you.

Ready to hit it hard again this week.
Needed this. Keep up the good work, Opossum.
Thanks Opossum.
Sobering, well timed, definitely needed.
